Background:
In September 2024, our New York legal recruiter Andrew Scholz connected with a commercial litigation associate who was seeking a new opportunity. The candidate was looking for a firm that offered a stronger culture of mentorship, a clear path to partnership, and greater exposure to trial work.
Understanding these priorities, Andrew curated a list of firms that checked all the candidate’s boxes, ensuring each option aligned with her long-term career goals.
The Journey:
The candidate was invited to interview with two AmLaw 10 firms and received offers from both. To make an informed decision, she requested in-person meetings with associates from each firm. These conversations provided valuable insight into the culture and operations of each office, helping her determine where she would thrive the most.
While leaning toward one of those firms, the candidate was also involved in another process with a third Big Law firm.
With the preferred offer set to expire before her last in-person interview, Andrew stepped in. Liaising with HR, the candidate was able to have that meeting before a final decision was made and ultimately confirmed that the offer facilitated by Andrew was the best fit.
The Outcome:
Thanks to Andrew’s expertise and advocacy, the candidate accepted an offer with an AmLaw 10 firm, complete with a $10,000 sign-on bonus—just as she’d hoped. She is now excited to begin this new chapter in her career, confident that it aligns with her professional aspirations.
