Aussie Lawyers - Your London Visa Has Been Extended!
Are you a young Aussie lawyer ready to make a BIG move in your legal career? Thanks to the recent free trade agreement changes between the UK and Australia, an extended trip to the great City of London is well within your reach (or almost)!
Soon, even more young Brits and Australians will benefit from life-changing opportunities on the other side of the world thanks to the expansion of the Youth Mobility Visa.
From May 31st, the age limit for Australian applicants coming to the UK will increase from 30 to 35 years old. Additionally, the maximum length of time Australians can stay in the UK without visa sponsorship will be extended to 3 years. Mirroring the agreement made earlier this year between the UK and New Zealand, which will come into effect from July 1st.
Although these new changes will be implemented on May 31st, it will take some time for them to come into full effect, so keep up to date with the latest announcements here.
For young, ambitious Australian lawyers eager to advance their careers, it’s hard to look past London. With a multitude of firms and access to international legal work, any lawyer that works here will be looked upon very favourably by top Australian firms should they return home. Moreover, outside of the quality of work, London allows keen travellers to be in close proximity to Europe and, of course, explore the delights of the City.
“As an Australian who moved to London back in February 2022, I’ve loved every minute. Despite sacrificing the warm weather, the bustling streets, the vibrant atmosphere, and, of course, career growth potential more than make up for it! The experience has opened my eyes to new opportunities, expanded my horizons, and allowed me to embrace a different way of life. It’s a journey of personal growth and adventure that I wouldn’t trade for anything.” - Dylan Morrison (Senior Consultant)
